Hello everyone.
The temperature has been dropping over the past few days, and autumn is in full swing.
It's almost the season for sweaters and cardigans.
At The Cloakroom Tokyo, we also accept orders for cashmere knitwear. We have a wide variety of colors. It's fun just to look at them!
This week we'll be looking at how to tailor the belt part of pants.
The pants belt uses a hard, non-stretchy core to hold it firmly around the waist.
The belt cores of most pants are made from synthetic fibers, but at Bespoke we use traditional duck skin cores.
Duck interlining is a 100% linen interlining made with a plain weave.

There is only a little bit left, but we will now cut it out and make belt cores.

The warp threads are passed through neatly, cut, folded in half and sewn.
The outer fabric also has warp threads passing through it, just like the belt core.

The outer fabric is sewn onto the belt with a sewing machine and secured in place with basting thread. The belt is now complete without the use of any adhesive interlining.
At this stage the belt is straight.
Sew this onto the pants and iron it on.

I used an iron to remove the curls!
Can you see that the belt is curved? This curve is possible because we use duck skin interfacing.
The waist of pants is always curved because of the darts. Simply sewing a straight belt to the waist will not fit well and the pants will not be comfortable to wear.
The belt is curved using ironing work, so it fits snugly around your waist and is comfortable to wear.
Because the warp threads run through the fabric, it is difficult to get rid of the wrinkles and it takes time, but comfort is our top priority!
This week we introduced the parts that are created using the iron, a technique unique to Bespoke.
If you have the opportunity, please try out Bespoke pants and experience their comfort.
