Recently, I have been grateful to be able to get work outside of rakugo little by little.
The other day, I went on location for a TV shoot for the first time.
This is really difficult.
Accurate information and fresh, easy-to-understand reactions.
It was all things I don't normally do, and the result was a complete failure.
The first place I visited was Yagiyama Bennyland, a theme park in Miyagi, where I also use my introductory music.
The temperature was 2 degrees. The wind was strong and it was snowing, so we filmed in kimonos.
It's extremely cold.
With men's kimonos, the wind just blows in through the collar and sleeves.
Then the director said,
"Well, Yoichi, first we'll have you ride the roller coaster!"
Are you trying to kill me?
Anyway, everything is a challenge.
Since it was winter vacation, it wasn't the most exciting roller coaster, but rather a gentler one aimed at children.
"Please react as over the top as possible!"
Please don't ask for too much.
I thought, but when it was over I thought, "Wow, that was a good expression!"
Because it's cold.
Next up is my first ever food report.
French fries sold inside the park.
This is freshly fried and delicious!
It's really delicious, especially when it's cold!
Anyway it's delicious! Delicious!!
…Yes, that’s right.
Even during the actual performance, all I could say was "Delicious!"
"Yoichi-san, could you give us some more feedback?"
That's true.
"Ehhhhhhhhhhhh,
The saltiness is just right!
Wow, this saltiness is just right! It's the best!
seasoning!"
Get your act together, me.
When it came time to say something, I couldn't think of anything.
I'm a man who only knows how to add salt.
The next place we visited was a curry restaurant run by a Bangladeshi husband.
I had a platter of three kinds of authentic Bangladeshi spice curry.
And this is delicious too!
delicious!!
Once again, the only thing that comes to mind is "Delicious!"
The director, unable to bear the sight,
"Yoichi-san, are those beans cooked soft enough?"
"Oh, it's really soft and delicious!"
"...So, does this curry have a lot of spices, so the spiciness hits you later?"
"Oh, it's got a lot of spice, and the heat hits you later!"
They're so incompetent that it would be better if the director did it directly.
"Well then, Yoichi-san, let's end this location shoot with a riddle!"
Please spare me.
For some reason, it is thought that any storyteller can play this hellish game of "nazokake."
I'm terrible at it to death.
But you can't have your cake and eat it too.
It was a poor riddle, but I didn't want to be embarrassed, so I did it out loud.
"So, husband, how many of the five cushions did Yoichi-san answer in his riddle just now?
Why 5 out of 5? Isn't the going rate 10?
I thought that for a moment, but it doesn't matter anymore.
Anyway, something has to happen.
Husband: "Five zabutons, give them a go!"
Me: "Oh, thank you. Did you like the riddle I just asked?"
"Yeah! I don't understand what it means, but your voice is loud, so I like it!"
So maybe it's better not to have a riddle.
I don't care about that anymore.
Anyway, thank you for giving me the opportunity.
The owner of Bangladesh.
I will go back for curry privately again.
